The Dance Video Collection (DVC) is the brain child of Marc Generoso. This anthology series re-adapted live stage performances into short dance films using cinematic lighting, practical sets, and professional film practices and techniques. Marc co-produced, written, directed, and choreographed all 33 films between 2010 and 2018.

Project & Objectives
This was a fun project that called upon my creative storytelling and scriptwriting skills. Between the featured dancer, his family, and the community this project was intended for, I used this audience as my north start in writing a compelling narrative that was fun, compelling, and manageable to execute.
Reflection
Knowing this project was a vehicle for Jacksun, I kept the dialogue and acting to a minimum to highlight his dancing.
I chose to go with Forrest Gump Jr. and follow him where the original movie left off. In my version of the sequel, Forrest Gump Jr. goes to school on show and tell day, where he shows off his fun dance moves. This created a realistic scenario where Jacksun could speak to a crowd (in this case his classmates) and dance with a purpose behind it.
It was a fun script that captured the innocence and youthful nature of these kids on camera.
“Marc wrote the perfect script for Jacksun to act, dance, and have fun in the process. I’m so delighted with how to final product came out and will cherish this experience for years to come.”

Results
This script was filmed in the summer of 2015 and released in December of that same year. It debuted in a live screening in Nanaimo, BC, along with the other 9 DVC 2016 projects. After the live screening, each of the 10 DVC 2016 films was released in early 2016, with Forrest Gump Jr. being released online in March 2016.
In the spirit of show and tell, I thought I would share the film project itself with you. Here is Jacksun Fryer as Forrest Gump Jr.
